Charles is founder of CompassNeedle, the lead producer of it's current projects, and a director, actor and teacher based in New York. As an actor this past summer, he celebrated twenty-three years as a member of Labyrinth Theater Company by joining the cast of Maggie Bofill's "Devil of Choice," a Labyrinth production at Cherry Lane Theater. Directing credits include Amos Kamil's "The Flame Keeper" at the 47th St. Theater; "Dutch Heart of Man," by Robert Glaudini, a Labyrinth production at The Public Theater; "FUR" by Charlotte Miller, and numerous main stage productions for Labyrinth, including the premieres of four new plays by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Charles has been teaching for fifteen years with Labyrinth and as adjunct professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Cornell University and at Shenandoah Conservatory. Since 2008 he has designed and taught private classes and is a private coach. Charles received an MFA in Directing from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and has a BA from Williams College. He is the proud recipient of The Drama League's Fellowship for directors and is a member of Actors Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
